Mousepack: Puzzle Park — A three-part AR treasure hunt for Snapchat Spectacles — solve puzzles anchored to real NYC statues, collect keys, and unlock the treasure.

Overview

Puzzle Park was a commission from Snapchat to Mousepack, the studio I freelanced with. The directive: build a brand-new experience to show off the AR features of Snapchat Spectacles.

We built a three-part puzzle anchored in the real world to three different statues around New York City. Completing each part rewards the player with a key — and the final statue unlocks the treasure chest to finish the game.

Puzzle One

Puzzle One is a hand-matching challenge. Using the Spectacles' onboard cameras for hand-gesture recognition, the player matches their hand positions to the poses shown in the puzzle to solve it.

Puzzle Two

Puzzle Two is a Rube Goldberg machine. The player has to align all of the rotating pieces to route a ball from the top of the statue all the way down to the bottom, unlocking the second key.

Puzzle Three

For the finale, the player inserts the two keys earned in Puzzles One and Two. That kicks off a Donkey Kong-style barrel-cannon sequence: collect a letter from each barrel to spell out the game's name.

Land every letter and you complete "Puzzle Park" — triggering a celebration and a thanks-for-playing message to close out the game.
